Review Wealthy Affiliate Platinum – What Changed at the Wealthy Affiliates?

The Wealthy Affiliate University is a Affiliate Marketers training resource with over 35′000 Members.

In Sept 2009 the site passed an upgrade for the third time since it’s launch in 2007, now called Wealthy Affiliate Platinum instead of adding only a v.3.

Here is my review with insights about the new interface and the new tools and what I quote positive/negative.

1 – New Interface

The new Interface looks very clean. Like before you have the option to customize your dashboard. The new design is definitely a improvement in terms of organization, as you now have a main menu bar at the top, accessing all important parts of the site. A perfect addition is the “bookmark” feature which makes the site a bit similar to Facebook.

2 – Sites loading speed and user experience

What’s a big improvement is the sites loading speed. I always thought that Wealthy Affiliates hosting provider could do better and the hosting switch to GoDaddy improved this a lot. The user experience has improved a lot.

3 – Learning Resources

The learning resources are now totally different organized. All resources and tutorials are now centralized in a “Training Center” with following modules :

- Getting started
- Article Marketing – Email Marketing
- Research Niches and Markets
- Pay-per-click Marketing
- Miscellaneous
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
- WA System Tutorials
- Website Development
- Web Hosting (as part for members)
- and the Accreditation courses to Article Marketing and Pay-per-Click Marketing which are not part of the membership.

4 – New Tools

The new tool worth mention here is the new keyword tool, which analyzes a keyword and it’s commercial value, if it can be used for Article or PPC marketing. You as well can spy into the AdWords competition for that keyword or dig deeper into the keyword right from the KW-tool.

The second tool are the ready made niche reports in NicheQ. There are currently 8 fully detailed niche reports available and more niches will be added. You get all data to the industry and consumer, available affiliate offers, and PLR material. You save weeks in research with this.

The industries covered are Pet, Golf, Stocks/trading, Insurance, Dating, Gaming, VOIP and Hosting.

The other tools such as website hosting, the link cloaker, the ClickBank research tool and the website builder remain the same as before the update, so I won’t get into details here.

There will be soon a reorganization and more detailed sub-forums will be added. Thousands of posts show actual step-by-step campaign walkthroughs, where you can follow the improvements. Those are real examples, where you can learn how a marketer mindset should look like.

6 – The cost

The cost of Wealthy Affiliate will remain the same at $37/month. This is one of the lowest offers available online and a very fair value for what you get. There is a option for a full year payment, offering a 25% discount.

- What I like in Wealthy Affiliate Platinum

Specially the new organized “Training Center” helps me with my work and make it easier to find what I need. Then the new keyword tool and the forum are my favored.

- What I don’t like in Wealthy Affiliate Platinum

The web hosting remains limited. The hosting has some limitations in respect to the amount of sites, discspace and bandwidth. I have several sites and don’t use WA hosting till today. For Newbies it’s OK, and included in the membership fee. For intermediate marketer this part is useless. There should be more flexibility and a upgrade option for people which would like to use more hosting.

The Website builder SiteRubix hasn’t evolved. It’s OK for newbies, but not very usable for a intermediate or advanced marketers. You build simple review sites but if you would like to make more complex sites, then this tool isn’t capable of helping you much. I recommend to get your feet wet with a software like Kompozer, where you will learn to build sites with a tool you can use as well outside the Wealthy Affiliates.

Conclusion :

Who likes to make money online need in first priority a good knowledge about Internet Marketing, specifically Affiliate Marketing. You need to have a good foundation. That’s no difference to any other skill you need to learn.

Internet Marketing has to be learned and you need a good resource, a time management and a strong commitment. The opportunity in Internet Marketing is huge and the best part, you don’t depend on your prior occupation, age, sex or race, and the more experience the better.

Bottom line, I always recommend to invest into training, for that you understand what you have to do.
