What is a bed bug spray?

Author: David Scott

Are you an animal lover? If yes, then hurting animals would be the last thing on your mind. But how do you categorize a bed bug? It is a pest which lives on human blood and should be eradicated as soon as possible. But sadly enough many people consider pests like these bugs to be as harmless as a pet and tend to do nothing about them. It should be kept in mind that under dire cases bed bugs can even cause asthma. More and more companies are coming up with bed bug spray to get rid of this pest.

These pests are called bed bugs as they generally found in beds. But in reality they are found in any place which to close to where human resides. A bed bug is reddish-brown in color while its nymph is brownish. It is approximately 4 mm long and about 3 mm wide. Owing to its quick movements they are barely spotted by humans. Their lifecycle consists of 5 nymphal stages. The maturity of the nymph stage takes place between 32 to 48 days. A bed bug generally feeds during nights; the peak time being an hour before sunrise. The bed bugs get attracted to its host when it detects their carbon dioxide and warmth. All bed bugs have two hollow tubes. With one they insert their saliva in the host’s body, which contains anesthetics and anticoagulants and with the other it takes in the host’s blood.

The bites of bed bugs are similar to mosquito bites but the former lasts longer. People suffering bed bug bites complain pain, stress, insomnia, anxiety, scars and skin infections. The saliva injected by them may cause Anaphylactic shocks, anemia and systemic poisoning. One can prevent all these easily by using a good bed bug spray. Bed bug sprays are of various kinds. The chemical ones ensure quick action but contain silica and other chemicals, which cause irritation in human skin and pollution. The other variant is the enzyme based ones which are both safe and environmentally viable for usage. These sprays can be easily applied on carpets, furniture (the spray does not ruin the fabrics), carpets, rugs, etc.

All such bed bug spray can be used generously as they are odorless and have no ill-effects on human heath. The best thing about these sprays is that they also work against bacteria, fungi and dust, which completely cleans government institutions, offices and homes. It does not stain the fabric on which it is applied. Moreover, a bed bug spray is a clean mode of killing the pests without contributing to pollution (as seen in chemical sprays).

Bed bug spray should be applied in all the bed bugs hiding locations about 3 to 4 times in every month. If regularity in spraying in not maintained, they have a high chance of coming back. Professional cleaners can also be hired who shall apply the spray from time to time without any hassle to kill every kind of bed bug effectively. They often use super hot steam to kill the bed bugs.

Ask the fumigation company for an MSDS (material safety data sheet) for the chemicals they will be using. By law, they must supply this to you. It will give you all the information you are looking for. Good luck.

NO NO NO NO DO NOT buy a bed bug spray!!!
It is not going to work unless you spray directly on bed bugs.

Wash all your bedding items with HOT HOT water.

Use a steam cleaner on the mattress to kill live bed bugs.

Apply Bed Bug Powder from the site below.

Put the sheet back on the mattress.

We had the same issue as you are having. We tried sprays, foggers, bombs, and even professional exterminators.
And none of them worked, but bed bug came back after a few weeks.

But after using the powder, we don’t seem to get bitten at all. The powder is natural powder and is safe to humans and pets.

The price is also reasonable, and it is easy to use.

    Good luck.

    Carrie,

I will keep my answer short – best one I have used is called BedBug Terminator and it is made by a company called Kleen-Free and is sold online at their website. They have a case study that shows it works on the bugs and their eggs.

I would get some of it and start the treatment now. Will likely be a day ro two to be shipped to you but will be better than waiting until Friday.

    Good luck,

How long does bed bug spray residue last?
Our apartment complex wants to spray for bed bugs. I have birds and my roomates have cats and the office said that the apartment is safe to return to after 3 hours… I don’t trust anything they say (from previous experiences), so can someone please help verify this? I don’t really want to risk my animals’ health so I will probably keep them away a couple hours extra.

Where can you go to buy bed bug spray?
    Hello,

I want to spray my luggage bags before I move them out a place I am staying which has evidence of bed bugs.

I doubt that they are in my luggage as I have not been there for long, but I don’t want to risk transporting them ‘just in case’ a few have jumped on board.

Standard fly/wasp spray does not kill bed bugs.

    Can anyone please help?

    Thank you
