Boston Terrier Puppy Training ? Train Your Puppy Like a Pro Trainer With These 3 Strategic Tips
A solid Boston Terrier puppy training program must focus on using positive reinforcements to drive desirable and acceptable behaviors. Sadly, there is still a great number of training programs out there that encourages the incorporation of harsh discipline in order to induce desirable behaviors in puppies.
Only a month ago, my cousin found this puppy obedience training instructions that heavily promotes negative training tactics and tools like dog shock collars, choke chains, etc.
Alright look, I’m not here to discuss about the pros and cons of ‘positive” and “negative” training methods. Right now, I just wish to share 3 strategic Boston terrier puppy training tips that would help you train that pup of yours like a pro trainer!
Here are the 3 tips to kick your start your training:
1. Pick positive conditioning method such as clicker training. This form of training gets my highest vote because not only it is effective for instilling desirable behaviors in your puppy; it is also very dynamic.
There’s loads of clicker conditioning strategies that can be applied for a variety of training purposes. You can use a clicker to teach your Boston Terrier some fun tricks, obedience, behavior fluency exercises and more.
2. Work on developing your puppy’s behavior fluency as you don’t want to wind up giving treats every time he does something desirable. Our ultimate goal should be to get the puppy to become 100% fluent with a particular command/behavior.
It’s best that you measure your puppy’s behavior fluency at least once a week. You can easily do this by counting the number of times you puppy is able to display a particular behavior without using cues.
3. Lastly, be patient because the early stages of training can be tedious and frustrating. In the initial stages, I recommend you conduct your Boston Terrier puppy training program in the comfort of your own home.
