Building Solar Panels

Building Solar Panels for Energy
Author: pratibha
Recent studies have shown that more people are inclined to build solar panels for his or her home in order to not only save on energy costs, but also aid in the preservation of the environment. Solar panels are being constructed today that are easy to assemble and the actual cost overall is low. Once the panels are installed and being used its been proven they actually pay for themselves within a month or two. In fact, in some areas the power companies are paying residents a certain amount for the usage of extra power that comes from the solar panels too.
To build solar panels there are many options available for consumers today. Do it yourself guides are available as well as other means of information that includes designs, diagrams, as well as the materials needed to accomplish the task.
The kits that are now available via the Internet as well as in some home improvement stores have everything needed as far as being able to reduce your electric costs by up to 80%. And, the best part is, many of these kits are under one hundred dollars in overall cost too.
Essentially, solar panels are designed to use the sun’s natural energy to supply the same energy we all have used from our local electric or utility companies. With the assistance of the kits available, individuals have the ability to build solar panels for usually under 0.00 and the instructions to do so are simple enough that being a technical genius isn’t even part of the equation.
As time goes on, more people are realizing the amazing ease in how to build a solar panel because of these kits that are being introduced to the marketing industry. And, obviously the more people who choose to make a difference in the environment are having that “go green” affect on the next generation as well.
Using these kits allow individuals to design and create the exact type of solar panel to build and use.
In essence, there is nothing to lose and everything to gain when deciding to build your own solar panels for your home. Saving energy for the concerns of the environment and saving money at the same time gives the idea of how to build your own solar panels an entirely new concept and more people are doing it.
It is estimated that over the next decade nearly half of the homes in a town or urban city will have some type of solar energy being used.

Are you talking photovoltaic panels to make electricity from sunlight. Don’t bother making them yourself. Without very specialized equipment you can’t make any that will produce a usable amount of power. Leave the manufacturing of solar cells to the pros. If you want to make solar collectors to heat water or your house that’s a different story. http://www.bioenergynews.org/RenewableEnergy-67780-0865715610-Solar_Water_Heating_A_Comprehensive_Guide_to_Solar_Water_and_Space_Heating_Systems_Mother_Earth_News_Wiser_Living_Series.html
This book should get you started.

I may not understand your question. If you want to learn how to size/install about renewable energy, there is a college that teaches that: http://www.sanjuancollege.edu/pages/4003.asp
They turn out great students and are one of the top renewable energy colleges out there! (I know, we’ve hired folks who have graduated from there before)
If you don’t want to devote that much resource/time to it, there is alot of free learning, including free webinars at http://www.altestore.com. And there are also places that offer online and offline courses for $ like SEI http://www.solarenergy.org/ and MREA http://www.the-mrea.org/
I hope that helps!

Hello! That is great that you are thinking of installing solar panels. Just to be clear, I believe you are talking about solar panels to produce electricity, aka photovoltaic panels. As mentioned in previous answers, the cost of installation will vary depending upon your location. But a good estimate is $7-$10 per Watt for a grid-tied, battery-less system.
So if you installed 10-200 Watt solar panels, that would be 2000 Watts (2 kW) and cost approximately $14,000-$20,000 before rebates and incentives. Be sure to check for local rebate programs and read about the 30% federal tax credit here:

Good luck!

You need a “cleanroom” to begin building PV solar panels. Although the equipment needed to build solar panels is not expensive by industry standards (10s of millions vs. a few billion for the state of the art microprocessors.
There is a balance and trade-off between how clean and the quality of the PV being produced. But generally I would expect that you would need a system to remove all particles greater than 200uM (Class 200). You need to keep particles out and this is accomplished by having positive air pressure so that the air pressure in the production area is higher than the local atmospheric pressure. Also temperature should be controlled +/- one or two degrees, and humidity to a within a couple of present.
At this point you would have to calculate what the conversion cost would be compared to building a green-field building.

Where can I read about building solar panels that can convert the energy into electricity?
Please…serious answers only. I know how to use google, but I was wondering if there’s a better website that I probably won’t find…like something written by a college.

What does it take to start manufacturing PV Solar Panels (building cleanliness, floor, walls, heating/cooling)?
I have space that i feel would be great for this but is very dirty and greasy. In the Process of cleaning it up.

What is the best source for building your own solar panels?
I’m interested in building solar panels myself. I don’t have a lot of money to invest, but would like to at least learn about it. Can someone recommend a step by step instruction manual or site that goes into detail?

How much to install solar panels on a building?
I know the cost of how much solar panels are but what is the price to install them?If I were to install about 10 on a building?
