Craigslist Changes Phone Verified Account System on 10/24/09

Craigslist has changed their phone verification system and users worldwide are hurting. Since Craigslist .com is in the top 500 of the busiest websites in the world and has over 8 billion page views a month.  These new rules have hurt people who make a living posting ads on the Craigslist website.

Craigslist makes you phone verifiy your account when you open it. They do this to cut down on fraud and spammers. 99% of the people who advertise and place ads on Craigslist.org are legit. It is the 1% of Craigslist users that are to blame for the new rules. This 1% of Craigslist users will use high tech software to post thousands of ads all over the place trying to defraud people, and they do it on a massive scale. Craigslist is constantly bombarded with complaints from Law Enforcement Officials around the world about the illegal activity on the list.

Most people that use Craigslist.org to conduct business are being punished by Craigslist. It seems that even if you follow their strick rules they will still shut you down and label you a spammer.

I opened an account and posted 100 ads over a month. Each ad was different and was not even similiar except they were all event tickets. Craigslist believes that if you posted 100 ads in a month, following their rules, that you must be a spammer and they shut your account down. If you have multiple Craigslist accounts and have used the same IP address to post ads on Craigslist then you probaly saw more than one of your accounts shut down.

The only way you can get around having your accounts linked together is to get a cheap dialup service.

If you want to post in Dallas, Texas then post 4 or 5 ads there using a Dallas area dialup number. Do not open several Craigslist phone verified accounts using differnet phone numbers and then post ads to the accounts from the same IP address. You will lose all of your work. I had 80 live Craigslist Verified phone accounts when they started analyzing IP addresses on each account. I lost every account i had and every ad I had posted.

You must use a good dialup service that has a large number of dialup up numbers per state. BasicISP.net must rent all the AOL dialup numbers because they have over 46,000 dialup numbers with fast connection speeds in the USA and Canada.

Don’t place one ad in Dallas, another in New York and one in Boston. Craigslist will immediately label you a spammer and remove all of your ads and possibly close your account. If they don’t close your account then they will also limit your account to one ad at a time.

My sales actually went up after the Craigslist clampdown using some of the techniques I learned at WAU. These marketing techniques are easier than posting everyday on Craigslist because they are more long term marketing techniques, that last and last online for the long haul.
