Five Steps to Make Money by Providing Services Online

To make money online you have to have drive and dedication. Working from home requires you to be a highly motivated self starting individual! While one of the advantage to working for yourself is that you don’t have a boss standing over you every moment, the reality is that many people can’t seem to get anything done without that boss standing right behind them!

Step One to making money online is to learn to boss yourself around. You have to decide how many hours a day you need to work, set up a schedule and stick to it. If this means getting up and getting dressed up just like you would for the office, and setting an alarm to go off for coffee breaks, lunch hour and quitting time, that may be what you have to do. Crack the whip for a month, and you will establish a steady work habit that will stand you in good stead.

Step Two is finding out what your strength is and how to market it using your computer. Are you a ‘fast as lightening’ typist? Data entry or transcription might be for you. Do you know several languages? Translators are in demand. Perhaps you love to blog and frequent social sites. There are businesses out there that will pay you to do that for their company! Programmers who know computer code can learn to build websites, and for the unemployed English majors, editing and proofreading jobs abound in the online world.

Step Three – brand and market yourself. Come up with a sensible name for your company that is recognizable and describes what you do. Buy a domain online and set up your own website or blog telling the world about yourself and why they should hire you. Use the power of the internet to spread the word about your services, and look for online venues where other people in the industry hang out. They can provide you with valuable contacts and tips on making money from your skills.

Step four is where you start to hit your stride. Your first few clients are worth doing for a nominal fee and a good recommendation. Treat each client like your most important one, and make sure they are completely satisfied. Then you can ask for a written recommendation or testimonial to the quality of your services, and get an email address or phone number that future clients can call to verify that they were satisfied with your work.

Step five (you are almost there!) Charge what you are worth. Don’t be greedy or have unrealistic expectations. At the same time, don’t get a reputation for being the cheapest – build a name for being the best! Remember to keep records of your expenses and earnings, both for tax purposes and so you can track your true profit. Don’t forget to give yourself a raise every few years!

If you follow these steps for making money online, you can build your natural skills into money making machine and enjoy all the benefits of working from home.
