How To Do Affiliate Marketing The Right Way!

There’s one thing I know for sure…affiliate marketing is a marketing system that can bring in boat loads of cash. But a word of caution! Even after logging all the hours affiliate marketing requires, make just one poor judgment call and you’ll be left standing all by yourself waiting for that boat to come in. So if you’re going to do it, you better know hot to do affiliate marketing the right way!
When you first look at affiliate marketing as an opportunity for an online business, it’s hard to imagine how anyone could fail at this.
The incentives for this type of online selling falls just a little short of spectacular; especially when you compare affiliate marketing on the internet to a conventional marketing distribution channel in the bricks and mortar world.
Consider a food sales representative working in the H.R.I. (Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional) distribution channel in the bricks and mortar world:
- Commissions in this industry are usually based on 2% of the net price of the food product. That means that on a food item like a 30 lb case of French Fries for example costing .95 per case, the rep would make a cool [POST CONTENT].26. That’s correct, 26 cents!
- Your customer base is made up of all of the restaurants, hospitals, hot dog stands; senior’s residences etc. in you defined territory. The company you represent will actually draw lines on a map outlining your territory. Heaven forbid you make a sales call to a restaurant over the line, not in your territory. Believe me there is hell to pay!
- Corporate identity in this industry is very expensive and very important. It determines how as a rep, you’re viewed on the street by each and every account you call on as well as your competition. The company you represent spends big bucks putting it’s name on anything and everything that relates to the industry, from sugar packets to paper coffee cups to umbrellas at your favorite hotdog stand.
- Your competition is absolutely fierce; you really have to watch your back. There are only so many restaurants and hospitals in your area and you better believe that the other food companies and there are lots of them in each city, will do whatever they can to steal away your business. Price cutting and giveaways are usually what they lead with.
Despite the lousy commission rate and the hostile selling environment, seasoned food sales reps actually do very well. But you must know that it takes time to become a seasoned pro!
Compare all that to an Internet Affiliate Marketer:
- Commission from affiliate products usually range from 50 to 75%.
- Your customer base is made up of millions and millions of people online with absolutely no geographic barriers of any kind.
- There is no corporate identity to worry about. Granted, you have to promote the product you’re selling but you can do that for free if you choose.
- Your chosen product is actually on consignment.
- The element common in both worlds is competition. It’s just a fierce and hostile online as it is in the bricks and mortar world.
So it seems that affiliate marketers have a huge advantage over other conventional forms of marketing but still the majority of folks attempting this type of business fail miserably.
I know I did at first and I can tell you that it was all about the last point…the competition!
I was building web sites, blogs and writing articles into the wee hours of the morning for months on end thinking that I was doing all that I could to be successful.
But what I didn’t pay attention to was the fact that I was choosing products and niches and promoting to what was really a very weak market. There were far too many other affiliates competing in my chosen market niche for the same customer.
In other words, I was bragging about a fishing hole that was mostly fished out!
Really, the secret to doing this whole thing right is to find a starving, ravenous crowd of customers and feed em!
And all the products, articles, web sites and blogs must fall inline. They must all relate too each another so that you end up with a homogenous targeted system.
However, in all honesty , even knowing this secret, affiliate marketing can still be pretty tough because finding these hot products and starving crowds isn’t all that easy.
Now what if I told you that rather than worrying and stressing over getting all this stuff right that a 7 figure a year affiliate marketing expert would be perfectly willing to pick these hot products and starving crowd market niches for you and email them to your inbox everyday…would you be interested?

There are various types of affiliate marketing “techniques” to make money, but the most common way is to join a company’s affiliate program and start getting people to go to their website through link you may have on either a basic website, blog, or social media site etc… The links that you provide for people click on to go to an affiliate company’s site tell the affiliate vendor’s what web site sent them the customer and will track how much commission the affiliate marketer will get (which usually based on sales) and will send payment to the affiliate who directed the customer to them.
Many affiliates who are profitable at this business will use their websites to harvest emails “legitimately” first. They do this by providing good content on their sites that readers are interested in. They then will ask for an email address to which they might send a free e-book, have a newsletter to subscribe too, or perhaps have a very educational video that can be watched. Many good marketers will then send good legitimate content to their potential customers that is useful to them, then “soft sell” sell them a product that will give them a commission for sending their buyer to the seller’s site.
The Super Basic Steps of Affiliate marketing in 5 steps:
1. Put up a website
2. Sign up for an affiliate program that you feel has products that you have the ability to promote well
3. Add the affiliate links that are provided from the affiliate program you signed up with to your website.
4. Continuously work to Optimize your site to be found in the major search engines and get visitors
5. Find more products and keep promoting and building your site
Affiliate marketing is a REAL business. If you take it seriously and work hard at it, I honestly feel anyone can succeed. It’s hard work, but well worth it. I heard that 99% who attempt internet business of people never make any money, and it’s mostly because they quit too soon.
There are many books you can get at local libraries that can get you educated on the subject. I recommend watching YouTube videos by lisa3876, my wife says she was the easiest for her to understand the concepts and really excited her to try and get started.
By the way, when doing your research, be warned that affiliate marketing “educational” websites are usually trying to sell you something and can be VERY persuasive. Try not to buy anything if you can help it unless you are 100% ready to proceed and the seller has a minimum of a 30 day return policy so you have ample time to really review it. I’ve spent thousands on my education to build my affiliate business and can tell you that if you work at it consistently, it can be done.

There are numerous websites on the Internet that offers affiliate marketing courses and are usually renamed “Home Business” or “Work from home opprotunites” but never the less it is still good old fashioned affiliate marketing. When I got into the whole affiliiate marketing world there were so many courses for sale. I actually bought more than I care to admit but they all had one thing in common, it was the same old “how to’s” just packaged with different covers. Affiliate marketing has been around for a long time. But there is a new way of learning this game now. With the invention of screen sharing, that is where usually an IT guy can log onto your computer and see what is wrong with it and fix it for you. The affiliate marketing gang has joined those ranks. I used to screw around with clickbank but it seemed like i was spinning my wheels and spending way more money then came in. I switched to http://totallyfreedatingwebsite.com ‘s affiliate program. It pays $35 to $55 per sign up. The people don’t even need to buy anything. and the best part is that it converts like crazy. It goes to show you how many horny guys there are out there.
