How to Make Your Own Wedding Invitation
When it comes to your wedding, everything has to be special. Fortunately, special need not be expensive. Although you might want to splurge on your wedding gown or wedding cake, there are some other venues of a wedding that will allow you to save. One way to do so would be to create your very own wedding invitation.
Technology today has allowed for easier and quicker designing and printing of wedding invitations with the assistance of publishing and photo-editing software. The best part of it is that it’s easy, and it doesn’t take an expert to create a well-designed and unique invitation. Also, because you’re doing it by yourself, you have more control in the design, making sure that your invitations are as special and memorable as you want it to be.
If you prefer a little assistance, you can browse through the Internet and go over some sites that provide free templates, art, text, and other wedding invitation suggestions. This is a good place to start, especially if you have no idea at all. Some sites will even give you step by step instructions together with an instructional video to guide you in making the invitation.
To make your wedding invitation more interesting, don’t be limited to using plain paper. There are many types of paper you can get at your local arts and crafts store. You can get premium heavyweight cards, opaque white overlays, parchment papers, and other stationeries. Also, you can add ribbon, sash, vellum, metallic confetti, and other knickknacks to make your invitation more interesting.
Here is one simple invitation idea you can try at home:
· Choose a color for your background card. Cut them into the desired size of your invitation and set them aside.
· Use your word processor to print the text that will be seen in your invitation. You can experiment with the fonts and even download wedding fonts if you’re not satisfied with the preset fonts in your computer.
· Layout the text in such a way that one sheet of 8.5 x 11 paper will accommodate as many invitations as possible, to save on paper.
· Be sure that the measurements in your layout will correspond to the size of your background card. The background card should be a half-inch to an inch longer and wider than the measurements you have in your document.
· Print the document using an opaque white overlay paper then cut according to the measurements.
· Paste the overlay paper on the colored background card. The background card should be longer and wider than the overlay paper.
· To add the finishing touch, use a ribbon, sash, or pre-printed stationery strip to embellish your invitation. A one inch strip will do.
· Attach the ribbon to the center of the background card (upside down, meaning overlay is not seen) and work your way across the invitation and back again.
· Once the two ends of the sash or stationery strip meet, glue together.
And there you have it – a very simple yet elegant wedding invitation. All you have to do is put it in a corresponding wedding envelope, address it to your guest, and mail it.
