Let’s assume for a moment that you are running 50 W fan. This means that you need a solar panel with the area of about 700 Square inches. It will set you back about $300 or more. This panel will have to be exposed to full sun light. Solar panel however produces only DC current. You will need one of two things; fan with special motor or DC to AC inverter. Add another $50. 00. If you run the some fan on the grid power you will use 1KWH of energy in 20 hours. Average cost of 1KWH in USA is about 10 -12 cents. You will have to run your fan for over 3000 Hrs. in order to brake even. Keep in mind that you also need wires, some kind of mounting bracket etc. to make you project work.

You could. But keep in mind that the amount of heat that it can absorb is a function of the surface area exposed to sunlight. The condenser coil that you show would not be very effective.
Edit: The only way you could possibly generate electricity with those condenser is to heat water or some other fluid. There would be a copuple of methods after that. But none are going to be able to generate much. As I said, insufficient area to absorb sunlight.

i believe you can. i have heard of this interesting guy who used pop can bottles to make his own solar panels…which would be the same concept (or similar) to building one using potato chip bags. Ive added the website below.

First Solar recently announced that their costs to produce panels dropped below $1 per watt. I don’t know how much of that is accounting tricks. Of course, that doesn’t mean that they would sell panels for that price – any capitalistic company is expected to drive the price up to what the market will bear.
Crystalline silicon panel producers are coming in at about $2.50/watt right now for the best of them. But again, the selling price is what the market will bear.
