One of the coolest things about Wealthy affiliate University* is the fact that so many mega successful internet marketers are there to give advice…

I am talking 6-7 figures per year passive income type successful.

And they are on the forum helping everyone out on a daily basis…

I recently made a post about my experiences after 5 months asking for people thoughts. I have been a little dejected lately as you all know from a few of my blog posts! Anyways, see below for what I wrote, and check out who was the first person to respond….

Hi Guys,

Well its been just over 5 months for me, and I have thoroughly
enjoyed my time here… Its been frustrating at times.
But you guys all know that spiel, and I dont plan on boring you!

So, where am I at on the money front?

I had my first cheque sent (not received but Clickbank says its sent!) for $187.66.

I am now making about 2/3 sales per week on average from clickbank,
which equates to about $60. Its definitely picking up.

I am also part of another affiliate program here in the UK,
and I have sold about $300US worth of mobile phone insurance.

I now know how to use wordpress which I learnt thanks to
WA member Valeri (and his notorious blogging system),
and I am also making money every other day from adsense
which is a pretty cool extra income stream. (PS for all you
guys who are struggling with article marketing I would
suggest checking it out)

I have my own business review website (set up 3 weeks ago)
which is starting to get loads of hits now.

All these things are great, but the fact is I have probably only
earnt about $600 so far for 5 months worth of hardcore work.
And I have also spent probably $100US on products
and a further $200US on WA membership.

I am barely up after 5 months of 8 hr days.

What do you guys think? Is it all worth it?

I am still undecided. I have had to go back to the 9-5, as I ran out of money.

And I am now working 12 hr days + travel.

It will be a waste of 5 months if i give up now… But I am also concerned
that 1 hr a day (or 7 hours per week) will not really make much difference?

How am I going to set myself apart from the people that give up?

Its a tough call!

Dan

TRAVIS’ REPLY

Dan,

I wish I had a magic wand and could wave it
over you and your campaigns and make things
happen faster.

I wish that for everyone that has put for serious
effort at WA.

I know you’ve worked incredibly hard and it’s so
disappointing to not see more fruit for your labor.

May I offer some advice?

It seems some folks have really fast success (almost
like they have that magic wand.)

and…

Some of us are more the tortoise in the ‘Tortoise and a Hare’ fable.

What I’ve noticed in soooooo many cases…is that it’s about
hitting the right niche.

Finding that hungry crowd that you click with.

If you go and take a look at all the keywords your blogs are
coming up for…

and ask?

how motivated are those people that are typing in
those keywords when they find my blog…

more than likely…

they are not too motivated

or…

You are so far off from understanding their mind…fears…dreams
and goals….that you are turning them off more than warming them up.

I don’t wanna sound all ‘smarty breeches’…

But this formula…NEVER FAILS…(we may fail in
carring out the formula…but the formula always works)

1. Find a HUNGRY CROWD.
2. Figure out EXACTLY what they are hungry for (meaning
what they want…how they want it…how soon…etc)
3. Get in front of the crowd and Show ‘em where to get it.

What I see so often…and may be true in your case…is that you’ve
spent the last 5 months on step 3.

-learning wordpress
-learning how to ping
-learning where to backlink
etc…etc…

But…

Where the process usually breaks down is almost ALWAYS
on step 1 or 2.

If your crowd is hungry enough you can even screw up some
on step 2…

For example…

If you’re in the desert and come across a fella that hasn’t
had a drink of water in 3 days…

You could probably pee pee in a dirty mason jar and he’d buy
it…happily.

Outside of our fantasy desert…

You need to find a hungry crowd…AND figure out what exactly
it is they are hungry for…and many times the ‘presentation’ doesn’t have
to be that great.

Another fantasy example…

You are at a Star Trek convention and you have the genuine
“Spock Ears” that Leonard Nimoy wore.

How elaborate of a presentation are you gonna need to sell
those pointy ears?

Not much I suspect.

So…

You gotta do what’s right for you…

I hate to see ya quit now that you’ve got all the
technical stuff under your belt.

I think you are just ONE HUNGRY CROWD away
from making that break through.

Look for pockets of people with a pressing problem that
they think about more than 3 or 4 times a day…

Find the forums they frequent looking for answers…

Write down…their top 3 fears and their top 3 dreams
or ideal solutions. (don’t make this up…go research it.)

Then…

Do the stuff you’ve been doin Your browser may not support display of this image.

and I bet you see the sales come in because you
are connecting a hungry crowd to a relevant solution.

Rooting For Ya,
Travis

For those of you who don’t know much about internet marketing, there is a guy called Travis Sago who is one of the pioneers in the ‘making money online’ game.

He is also known as the ‘bum marketer’ because he nicknamed a special version of article marketing called, you guessed it ‘bum marketing’.

He called it Bum Marketing, because his idea was that any ‘bum’ off the street could grab a computer and and internet connection and make money online without having to shell out any money at all.

Its ingenious really.

I have made a post on bum marketing earlier, have a read and let me know what you think.

He posted a few weeks ago about how he cashed 7 cheques from internet marketing which have come from 7 different countries at the same time.

I am not sure how much money he makes, but I suspect he is most likely a millionaire, and the beauty is he started out just like you and me, not that long ago.

So I think its pretty cool that someone of his calibre is personally replying to one of my posts which asks for help and advice!

And he isn’t the only one. There is a lady who graces the boards who calls herself potpiegirl. She was an ex-golf course manager who was made redundant a few years back, and she has gone on to become very successful as well.

Her main product is called ‘One Week Marketing’ which is aimed at helping new people (aka Newbies) who are trying to make money online.

She has also replied to my personal posts answering specific questions which have saved me a load of time and effort.

The support received from these guys are second to none. And did you see how long Travis’ post was, and how much time he spent helping me out?

It’s awesome and a huge reason why I will never give up my Wealthy Affiliate University membership!

Signing off for now,

D-dubbs
