Diabetes is a condition in which the pancreas fails to produce enough insulin or produces no insulin.

Insulin is required by the body to metabolize the glucose in the blood and transport this vital energy into the blood cells, which results in lower glucose levels in the blood.

There are two major types of diabetes and one minor classified as Type I Diabetes and Type II Diabetes and Gestational Diabetes.

The first two forms of diabetes (Type I/Type II) are also classified as Chronic Medical Conditions because in almost all cases they will last a life time and require either constant management or life long medication to manage.

Gestational Diabetes on the other hand is a result of certain unbalances which occurs when some women become  pregnant.  This condition though tends to self  adjust itself after pregnancy and no medication is required to manage it.

Treatment of Type I Diabetes normally requires a regiment of injecting insulin, a regulated diet and exercise and constant monitoring to make sure other illnesses don’t develop as a result of a person having diabetes.

Treating Type II Diabetes rarely requires the use of insulin but implementing a sensible dieting plan and putting together a regular exercise plan and monitoring one glucose levels is something that must be done life long.

The various symptoms of diabetes include for Type II increased urination, fatigue, increased thirst, weight loss, nausea, vomiting; while Type I Diabetes also includes blurred vision and ulcers.

You need to realize that insulin is an artificial means of controlling the amount of glucose that is in the blood and is not a cure for the disease, as a result the amount insulin an individual takes increases as time goes on and other illness develop as a result of the disease.

There is of course on going research in the treatment for diabetes and you can read about a revolutionary scientifically proven breakthrough that enables the body’s pancreas to produce more insulin naturally whether you have Type I or Type II Diabetes.
